Tax Manager
Tax Manager is responsible for:
- Manages delivery of tax-related services including tax returns preparation and filing and development of tax strategies and policies that help ensure tax optimization and compliance.
- Manages closure of tax assessments, and spearheads implementation of relevant process or systems improvements to help prevent exposure, institutionalize regular tax planning and continuously implementing tax efficient measures that will contribute tax savings.
- Manages compliance in securing relevant permits (i.e. business, etc.) and other regulatory requirements
Knowledge Management
- Ensures delivery of tax-related activities including preparation and filing of tax returns, tax reporting as a critical element of the audited financial statements, and handling of tax assessments.
- Performs annual review of tax processes, practices and procedures and confirm to management the quality of application and implement remedial actions immediately if required.
- Ensures generation of tax-related reports for regulatory submission in coordination with the Controlling team.
- Develops and/or improves relevant processes and underlying internal controls and acts as gatekeeper to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed on matters pertaining to tax.
- Educates the organization, interprets new tax regulations and provides advice and recommends measures to ensure compliance.
- Performs review of contracts, where relevant.
Reporting
- Regular Tax Compliance & Tax Risk Update: Statutory and Germany/APAC
- Regular Updates regarding Close out of Pending Tax Cases/ Audits
- Regulatory Reports to BIR, SEC, BSP and BOI, where relevant
Coordination with Stakeholders
- Finance team peers: information support and peer review
- CFO: For required approval and any assistance/ support needed.
- Internal Auditors: provide requested information accurately and timely.
- APAC Region & Knauf Group Treasury Departments: various adhoc requests and policy/ process updates
- Liaising with auditors, lawyers, tax advisers, financial institutions as required.
- Acts as the key point of contact and support for our local authorities and provide internal tax advisory services and support on business operations.
Planning and Organizing
- Tax-related projects, initiatives
- Ensure project milestones and goals are met.
Communications
- Flag with Chief Financial Officer critical items to be addressed.
- Communicate and train wider business with the updates on tax, and related internal policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Candidate must be graduate of Bachelor's degree in Accountancy.
- Preferably a licensed Certified Public Accountant is essential in this role
- Knowledge and experience with relevant Tax laws and regulations
- At least 8 years of relevant work experience in tax compliance, governance and audit
- Analytical, detail-oriented and agile to the changing demands of the job
- Exposure to tax audits and cases in manufacturing industry is an advantage
- Knowledge in SAP is a plus
